Elder A.L. Scott was born on December 17, 1935, to the union of Henry and Irene Scott in
Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
His early education was in the
Luxola, Arkansas public school system. He later moved to Kansas City, Missouri area where he furthered his education at the C.H. Mason Bible College.
Elder Scott truly loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Wrights Temple Church of God in Christ where he began his walk with the Lord in the ministry.
In November 1966, he became the founder of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ where he served as pastor for 35 years. The church flourished under his leadership and grew from just a few faithful members in the beginning to huge member base that it has today.
In May 1961 he married the lovely Audrey Abraham and together became the parents of six children and the foster-parent to forty-two children.
Elder Scott was a lover of people and his immediate family, extended family and church family all respected and sought his advice. He was a friend to all that knew him and a great shepherd of his people.
On December 18, 2001, Elder Scott went on to be with the Lord and left behind to cherish his memory his family, friends, fellow pastors and all of Gethsemane.
He is greatly missed but his spirit lives on in all the lives that he touched during his time here on this earth and through the church that he founded over 38 years ago.
Elder Daryl Randolph, his nephew, currently serves as pastor of Gethsemane and the church continues to be a thriving, growing, loving church. |
